Being a momma, whether you stay at home full time, work part-time, or have a full-time job outside the home can be a hard and exhausting job! It is the most rewarding and stressful jobs on the planet but sometimes leaves us feeling and looking like a hot mess! It’s hard to Let my Love Be Louder when I am constantly stuck in a battle of what to wear and what looks good. Time after time, I am left scrambling to try to make myself presentable only to stand in my closet and stare into the abyss of leggings and t-shirts. That is why I decided to try StitchFix! Through some trial and error and research, I found how to make StitchFix fulfill my fashion needs without stealing my momma time or all my extra money and I want to share some of those tips with you!
In this blog post, I’m sharing 4 secrets to maximize your time, fashion, and dollar with the use of StitchFix. I’ll be covering:
What is StitchFix and why I chose it
How to get money back from signing up
How to set up a profile that will offer the best fit and style
How to maximize your dollar and avoid overspending
How to get outfits you love and put together outfits quickly using the website
What is StitchFix and why I chose it
StitchFix is an online program that allows you to work with a stylist to personally shop for your clothing and wardrobe needs. He/she will pick out 5 items that could include pants, tops, dresses, accessories, bags, etc., that fit your style and ship them directly to you. You can set how often you would like to receive your “fix” or request only as needed. Shipping and returns are ALWAYS FREE, but you have 3 days to return and check out. I chose this program for a few reasons...
I didn’t have time to go shopping. With 3 children ranging from ages 5-12, I had little time to go shopping and certainly didn’t have the time to try on dozens of outfits to find the right pieces.
I didn’t have much style. Let’s be honest… fashion has never been my strong suit. I know what I like, and I see so many people that seem like they have it all together in the fashion world, but I cannot put together an outfit to save my life.
I wanted to build my wardrobe. Although being a stay-at-home mom is my full-time job, I was tired of looking “blah” everywhere I went. I wanted “go to” outfits whether I was going to church, a soccer game, grocery, afterschool activities or just because I wanted to feel good about myself.
After signing up, it took a few “fixes” to learn how to maximize my dollar and for my stylist to learn my style and fit. I want to share those secrets with you so you too can get the looks you want.
If you want to have a wardrobe that fits your style without putting a lot of time and effort into it, then give StitchFix a try now!
Secret #1: How to get money back from signing up
Before signing up for StitchFix, be sure to sign up for Swagbucks first! This is a program that has surveys and daily challenges as well as reward offers for simply shopping at your favorite stores or surfing the web using their search engine. Right now, when you are a Swagbucks member, you will get 1250 Swagbucks (SB) for arranging your first StitchFix. That over halfway to earning enough SB for a $25 gift card. Perfect for extra Christmas shopping money or buying those last-minute teacher gifts!
Secret #2: How to set up a profile that will offer the best fit and style
Next, be sure to set up your Style Profile and fill it out completely to allow the best fit and best look. You will want to include
Your reasons for using StitchFix (some of the options I chose are “update my wardrobe,” “find the best fit,” “a fun surprise”). This gives your stylist an idea of your priorities.
How much you typically spend on items (I put “cheaper the better” for all because, well, I am cheap lol)
Height and weight- be honest! This will only help you.
Typical sizes in each article of clothing
How clothes typically fit- I am short and curvy so my pants are usually too long and too tight around the thighs.
Also be sure to go into Account Settings and set the frequency of your fixes. Here you will have the option to only get a fix when you arrange it or get it as often as every 2-3 weeks or as little as every 3 months. Remember you can stop automatic fixes at any time.

Secret#3: How to maximize your dollar and avoid overspending
To avoid over-spending or spending money I didn’t have, there are a few tips I learned along the way.
1. Know the cost:
I don’t typically spend a lot on my clothing or go shopping regularly so I want them to be conscious of the price when picking items out for my fix. Therefore, I let them know how much I typically spend per item when shopping.
There will be a $20 styling fee charged to your account prior to receiving your StitchFix box. This will be deducted from anything you buy.
If you really like StitchFix and decide to stick with it, you can get invited to purchase a Style Pass for $49. I just recently purchased this to avoid styling fees for 1 year. This amount was credited to my account to go towards any purchases or future fixes. *Note- it will renew automatically annually unless you cancel in your Account Settings.
2. Only Schedule Fixes if you have the money to budget
I would recommend budgeting $200 in the event you keep everything. I have never spent over this amount, but I do typically spend between $160-170 if I keep all 5 items.
If you purchase all 5 items, you will get 25% off your entire purchase + your styling fee is deducted.
Only buy items you LOVE. Don’t waste your money on things that are just “ok” or that don’t look great on you. This is not Wal-Mart, and you will spend too much money for items that will simply sit in your closet.

Secret #4: How to get outfits you love and put together outfits quickly using the website
Let your stylist know what you like. It might take a few fixes, or you may need to try different stylists before you get the stylist that gets you. If you are like me, I didn’t even know my own style. Other than completing your profile you can also:
Complete the Daily Style Shuffle where you rate different articles of clothing to allow your stylist to see what you like. Just give it a thumbs up or thumbs down.
Complete Your Looks: See items you have purchased paired up with other items OR click on an item you’ve purchased and see other outfits they suggest. I do this A LOT when I want to know how I can put items together I have bought or make outfits in a hurry when I have somewhere to go.
Add a note for your stylist. Some of my notes include things like “I want something cute and stylish yet comfy that I can wear to my kids’ soccer games” or “I need items to match the dress I bought last fit” or “I need shorts that aren’t too tight around my thighs.”
If you don’t like what they send, let them know why when you check out. The more info the better! Was it too expensive, too big, too little, too tight, not comfy, not your style? Whatever it is, let them know.
So, if you’re tired of feeling frumpy and wearing the same old outfits, or need some fresh looks to feel your best, StitchFix may be the right fit for you!
