Losing weight is tough. Losing those last 5 to 10 pounds, even tougher. Keeping it off, the toughest!
I have been there! Being pregnant 5 times, I have put on and have had to take off my fair share of weight. The process can be overwhelming, frustrating, and downright discouraging! I finally found the method that has worked for me (although it took me close to 40 years!), and has worked for many others. Now, I want to share with you my my tool for success!

How I Finally Lost Those Last 5lbs
I’m going to be honest with you, I’m one of those weird people who loves to exercise! I have always enjoyed physical activity, starting with organized sports through my teens and then morphing into exercise classes, cardio, hiking, etc. Even after I had my first daughter and was working, I still made time to exercise; it made me feel good about myself, relieve stress, and help get that baby weight off!
With each additional baby I had, life got busier, and it became harder to come up with the time I wanted to exercise. But still, I found a way to work it in, be it during nap times, early morning sessions, or squeezing it in late at night. It still offered me stress relief, and did help significantly with getting down to my pre-baby weight. But after baby number 4 and 5, no matter how much I exercised or how much I “watched what I ate”, I still couldn’t drop those last few pounds. Talk about frustration!!!!
I have been a long time subscriber to Beachbody, and to be honest with you, I love it! I’m not a Beachbody coach, but I do highly endorse this at-home workout streaming product. I have done many of its programs, have loved some and also not really cared for others. But there are definitely many options for every interest and skill level! The one area of Beachbody I never really focused on until a couple of years ago, however, was the nutrition element. I felt like I didn’t need it, that I could manage on my own.
Well, after feeling like my efforts trying to lose those last 5lbs were getting me nowhere, I decided it was time to give the Beachbody nutrition plan a try. Let me tell you, it was the best decision I could have made! It changed the way I eat and meal plan for the better.
Let me share with you how this plan shaped my life, and diet, for the better!
The Tools I Needed to Be Successful
There are several trainers on Beachbody, but far and away my favorite is Autumn Calabrese. I love her workout programs! They have definitely helped me change the way I exercise for the best results I’ve ever had! Autumn also developed a nutrition plan call Portion Fix, that teaches you how to incorporate all the food groups into your daily meal planning in a healthy, well-balanced way. I refer to her plan as the container plan. Sounds crazy, maybe even dumb, but I’m telling you, it has helped me tremendously!

To be honest with you, I started the portion containers program without reading the book first by using what was available on the Beachbody site, but if you aren’t a Beachbody member, or you are a member and want to learn the program even better, the book is really a great way to understand how the it works and is successful.
Once I applied the portion fix plan, and really followed it, getting rid of my preconceived ideas of healthy eating, I started to see big changes. Not only did I lose those last 5lbs (and few extra), I found myself eating cleanier, consuming more fruits and veggies then I ever had before!
How You Can Implement the Portion Fix Plan Into Your Life
Now, I’m not going to sit here and say that the portion fix plan doesn’t take a little planning in order to be successful, especially if you want to add variety to your meals. When I first began with the portion planning, I literally sat down one night for a few hours and planned my entire week out! I starter with my planned dinner menu for the week and worked backwards. Once I knew what I was going to eat for dinner and what containers I would be using for that meal, I was able to backtrack and determine what I could eat for breakfast, lunch and snacks. I found starting with dinner was best for me because in the past when trying to “watch what I ate”, I would be really good until dinner and then a lot of times just let it all fall apart when so many yummy/easy unhealthy options were readily available! After I got the hang of mapping my week out and learned more about the containers, how many of which containers I got a day, and how to implement them, the time involved planning greatly reduced. Granted, I do plan ahead, but on days when I am just “winging it” I am able to better know what choices are keeping me on track! Another think I love about this plan is it does allow you to indulge in your cravings a few times a week, substituting sweets and treats for containers. You can also learn how to use your containers and eat out! I know I definitely enjoy not cooking but still staying on point with my health!
Portion Fix has been a real game changer for me in the way I view food, meal planning, and health eating. And the best side effect is finally getting my body back after having 5 babies and I would say be in the best shape of my life.
I want this for you too! I want you to feel comfortable in your own skin, and I believe this plan can work for anyone as long as he/she is willing to be true to the plan. We’re all human and we all have “off days”, but with this plan, you just start over again the next day and keep plugging right along!
